Favorite topic? I think soooo! I’ve compiled a list of my makeup BFFs. Everything can be purchased at Sephora or Ulta, nothin better than one-stop shopping!

Disclaimer: When I decided to do a current makeup routine I did NOT realize how many products I use. Oh well, such is the life of a beauty product hoarder! Plus, everyone loves options! Sorry not sorry.

Smashbox Photo Finish

My favorite Step 1! I’ve tested out a lot of primers in my day and this is the only one that works for my oily skin. It holds my makeup in place for HOURs and helps smooth out my skin prior to application. I don’t typically use a primer for my day-to-day routine unless I know that I need my makeup to last my full work day + a night out without stopping at home in between.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage

This is usually my go-to for nights out, I want a full coverage foundation that also helps mattefy my complexion. This is a thick formula so a little goes a long way. (I always apply my foundation with a damp beauty blender, FYI.)

it Cosmetics CC+ Cream

My daytime base! The SPF 50 makes it perfect for this hot Florida weather, FO’ REAL. If you are having daytime adventures, this needs to be your #1. I also bought a trial size of the ‘Medium’ color to mix with my usual ‘Fair’ shade when I get my (sunless) tan on! This is a buildable formula so it works for everyone whether you want light or full coverage. Bonus: it smells good.

Benefit Cosmetics ka-BROW! Gel Eyebrow Color

Extra points for this waterproof formula and then more extra points for how easy it is to remove versus other waterproof products. This gel color is buildable and easily manipulated so you can work with how dramatic you want your brows to be. I know that there are a lot of brow pencils and products on the market, but this has proven to be the easiest for me to fill in my brows.

MAC Cosmetics Studio Fix Plus Powder Foundation

I use this powder to set my foundation, very very lightly. I just get a little bit on my face brush and dab my forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin. When I use this powder solo, I use the sponge that comes with this and dab it on over my moisturizer. It’s got all the coverage without the work of blending out a liquid foundation.

NARS “Orgasm

How long has this blush been around? 25 years? AND FOR GOOD REASON. This is an incredibly flattering shade for all skin tones and, you guessed it, buildable. This peachy toned blush does have a shimmer finish but it is not overwhelming or distracting – a “glow from within” feel.

BECCA X Chrissy Teigen Glow Face Palette

I’ll buy almost anything Chrissy Teigen related… from cookbooks to makeup, no hesitation. This palette was no exception, an impulse buy, but it quickly became a staple. I will say, I tend to not use the bronzer in this palette, it’s too orange/red-toned for my complexion. But I go ALL IN with the golden pink-coral blush and the highlighters. The blush does have some fallout and does require a little layering for a color payoff, but it is worth itttttt.

Hoola Matte Bronzer “Natural Bronze”

When you have a fair complexion like me, finding a flattering bronzer is a BITCH. No sugarcoating that one. I stopped trying to find one and didn’t wear any for the LONGEST time. Enter Hoola. This bronzer is incredibly complimentary and has a smooth, concentrated formula that allows for easy blending for us pasty girls!

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector “Champagne Pop”

This highlighter is a soft gold with a peachy-pink shimmer and has an instant wow factor after application. When I’m at my palest, this is not my usual highlighter because it favors a tanner complexion (in my opinion), but this one is too good to ignore.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder “Ethereal Light”

THIS is my “pale” skin highlighter; a sheer, opalescent softer white powder that gives you that radiant, dewy glow that we’re all looking for. Since I already have oily skin, I am not heavy handed with highlighter but when it’s applied properly it really glams up a look. I only apply it at the very tops of my cheekbones and right above my top lip, subtle but effective.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant

This is by far the worst smelling makeup product I’ve ever come across. Think mothballs. And if you read my fragrance post, you know how important smells are to me. So if I’m overlooking this offensive scent, YOU KNOW it’s damn good. I saw a MUA on Instagram (heyyyyy, @EmmaWillisMakeUp) recommend this so I purchased it because she does an incredible job on her clients and it’s a WINNER y’all. I use a mini beautyblender and put a VERY small amount of this cream on it and lightly dab it over where I applied my highlighter for a little extra sass. You can also go without highlighter all together and use this alone. THIS IS WHERE YOU GET YOUR DEWY COMPLEXION. THIS IS IT. I will buy this forever and ever and ever. Added bonus, it is so rich-feeling that I use this cream post-facial to prevent my skin from drying out too much! WORKS.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette

This palette has 14 neutral to berry-shade tones that are beautifullllll. I hit pan FAST on the Tempera shade as it’s usually my base but this palette has still lasted me about 2 years. My go-to shade combo is Tempera (duh just said it), Vermeer (as a top layer for a little extra shimmer and inner corners), Buon Fresco (all over the lid), Antique Bronze (for the outer corners), Warm Taupe (for the crease), and Cyprus Umber (lash line). The darker shades do have some fallout but the color payoff is enough to overlook that.

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner

Did anyone else see the review where the girl was in a car accident and she was wearing this liner and it didn’t smudge or wear off and she took a selfie in a neck collar while still in the ER and posted a review to talk about how amazing it is? Yeah that’s when I bought this. The tip of this liner will give you THEEEEEE sharpest winged look you could ever want. I’ve had a lot of practice with eyeliner so it’s all pretty easy for me to apply but I’ve *heard* it takes a slightly skillful hand. It doesn’t fade or bleed either so what else could you ask for?

Too Faced Better Than Sex

Disagree with the name, agree with the formulation. TBH, I’m always rotating my mascaras but this is my current frontrunner. I prefer thick formulas to lengthen and add volume and this does just that. It doesn’t flake, clump, or smear and is super easy to remove at the end of day. There’s few things I hate more than a mascara that’s impossible to remove, I end up ripping eyelashes out just trying to get it off and it TOTALLYYYY defeats the purpose.

Setting Spray

Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Setting Spray

Don’t you hate it when you spend all this time (and money!) on applying your makeup and then it rubs off or breaks up? WHAT IS EVEN THE POINT. Think of a setting spray as hairspray. For your face. It’s what going to keep things in place.

Lip Gloss

Too Faced “Polite” Lip Color and Gloss Kit

This is new (ish) to the market but I am obsessed with Erika Jayne. I love a fierce and unapologetic Housewife so I was excited to see her collab with Too Faced. I *did* test this in stores before purchasing because it looked lighter online than I usually prefer, but it works really well with my skin tone. I’m not usually one for lip liners either, give me a lipstick or a gloss and I’m set but I definitely made an exception for this one. The liner is a soft, pink matte (as liners are, duh) and the gloss is a sheer-ish pearly pink. The gloss is a thicker formula than the other glosses I’m used to but it doesn’t bother me!

Marc Jacobs Enamored High-Shine Lip Lacquer “Allow Me”

This is a rosy shimmery gloss that is so much prettier in person than online. I probably collect lipglosses more than any other product, I think I have about 10 in my purse at this very moment. 9 times out of 10, I end up reaching for this one. It’s got a creamy (NOT sticky!) formula that isn’t overwhelming and has a beautiful color pay off. I am always searching for beautiful “nude pink” glosses and this. is. it.
